- What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural way to improve the
appearance and feel of the complexion. Many people
seek treatment to help with problem skin such as acne,
rosacea and eczema (dermatitis, e.g. atopic,
seborrheric). It is also an increasingly popular
alternative to invasive injections, fillers and chemical
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a whole-body treatment, based
on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which,
as a holistic treatment, heals and enhances the whole
body. As a result common positive effects of treatment
also include improved sleep, energy and digestion.
It stimulates increased blood circulation to the
skin, improving oxygenation and enabling
detoxification and lymph circulation. This
improves skin tone, colour and texture.
The fine needles create openings within the
skin stimulating the natural production of
collagen, which plumps up the skin.
It stimulates muscles in the face. We are
working with various muscles in the face.
Needles are used to stimulate the muscles
and tighten them.
The intradermal needles cause non-visible
tissue damage, which stimulates a
wound-healing response and increases cell
regeneration, improving skin texture
Hormones play a key role in the appearance
of our skin - acne-type hormonal imbalances,
stress-related skin problems and ageing as
oestrogen levels decline. Acupuncture helps
the skin by regulating and balancing hormones.
My skin is SO good, I feel like myself again
and I'm getting so many comments on how
bright I look.
I think it's only when you've had such awful
skin that you truly appreciate how liberating
it is to not having to worry about foundation
and concealer all the time...you've changed
my life and I'm so grateful.

- Does it hurt?
The needles used for facial acupuncture are
incredibly fine and are inserted to a depth of just
a few millimeters. Some people feel a tingling or
warmth to the face, and this is desirable. Most
people find the treatment incredibly relaxing.
- Are there any side effects?
Occasionally a point may bleed slightly when the
needle is removed, sometimes this is desirable as
it releases heat from the skin. On rare occasions
a small bruise may appear. If this seems likely
then arnica will be applied.
How long will it take to see results from
Cosmetic Acupuncture is a natural treatment, so
improvements are not instant, but over a course
of treatment can be very significant. A course of
at least 6 weekly treatments is recommended,
with a monthly 'top-up' thereafter.
In the days following treatment, most people
notice that their skin condition and tone
improves and often report that they receive
lots of complements on how well they look -
you will glow from the inside out!
