• Fertility

We aim to support couples wishing to conceive by
working together to place them in the best possible
place for conception.

We take an integrated approach, using tools such as
basal body temperature (BBT) charting and the results
of any western medical exploratory tests, such as
hormone levels and scans, to aid and inform our
Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis.

Research has demonstrated that acupuncture can have
a positive effect on those trying for a baby and can
actually aid the conception process.

Studies have shown that acupuncture may
help in the treatment of infertility by:
  • Regulating the menstrual cycle
  • Regulating fertility hormones - stress and other
factors can cause hormonal imbalances that can
    negatively impact fertility
  • Enhancing luteal function
  • Increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs
  • Improving blood flow to the ovaries, enhancing the
environment in which ovarian follicles develop
  • Increasing blood flow to the uterus, improving the
thickness of the endometrial lining and increasing
    the chances of embryo implantation
  • Counteracting the effects of polycystic ovarian
syndrome (PCOS) - PCOS is one of the most
    common causes of female infertility
  • Improving sperm count, morphology and mobility

Understandably, trying to conceive can be a stressful
experience. Acupuncture is well suited to the treatment
of infertility as it is a gentle and relaxing treatment.
Many find that undergoing a course of acupuncture
reduces associated problems such as anxiety, stress
and insomnia and helps to improve the chances of
pregnancy by improving wellbeing in general.

If you would like to have acupuncture treatment you will
need to book a fertility consultation.

*Required Information
Studies have shown that acupuncture
may help during an IVF cycle by:
  • Increasing blood flow to the reproductive
organs, which can improve the thickness
of the endometrial lining, so increasing the
    chances of embryo implantation
  • Increasing egg production and improving
egg quality, which could increase the
    chance of fertilisation
  • Enhancing luteal function
  • Promoting embryo implantation
  • Assisted Conception

Many couples are now seeking acupuncture treatment
throughout their IVF cycles and research has shown that
acupuncture before and after embryo transfer may
increase the chance of success.

If you are planning an IVF cycle and would like support
throughout the process please make an appointment to
see us prior to starting your treatment cycle. Ideally you
will see us in the months beforehand in order prepare
your body for assisted conception.

After a fertility consultation an individual treatment plan
will be tailored to suit your protocol.

As long as you have had a fertility consultation with us,
we offer a comprehensive service allowing IVF patients
to receive acupuncture 7 days a week (Sundays and bank holidays for embryo transfer only). We ensure that we can always see patients around embryo transfer and run a flexible system that allows this to be arranged at short notice.

will be made, which will include lifestyle advice to support
your treatment. You may also be referred to another
practitioner or advised to book western medical tests that
would benefit you, such as a hormone profile, vitamin D
